In 1968, Vale do Manantio Estate entered the history of the Bravo family, a legacy born from the patriarch João Maria Bravo’s deep connection with nature and hunting. In his early years as owner of the estate, he devoted himself with dedication repopulating it with native game species, such as the red partridge and the rabbit, keeping alive the dream of preserving and enhancing this land that is so traditional and authentic.
The Bravo family’s history in Portugal is rich and ancient, dating back to the 18th century, when their ancestors distinguished themselves as international shipowners, owners of seven caravels that sailed the seas of Europe, Africa and the Americas. This visionary and entrepreneurial spirit spanned generations, inspiring João Maria Bravo, father of the current estate manager, to become one of the most respected hunters in the country. With a deep passion for sustainable hunting, he left a legacy not only in practice, but also through his books, which continue to influence and inspire.
Today, the Bravo family keeps this heritage alive, guided by the values of respect for nature, dedication and passion that shaped its history and that continue to define the future of Vale do Manantio.
